Music

Every pupil in the school has 2 or 3 periods of music at KS3, then the opportunity to choose GCSE music at KS4.

In the junior school pupils have opportunities to learn guitar, tin whistle, drum kit and keyboards as part of class music making activities. Pupils also learn to write their own songs and pieces of instrumental music, while learning to appraise and appreciate the music of others.

GCSE music builds on the skills of KS3 and aims to develop pupils into the best musicians they can be. The course involves composing, performing, listening and appraising. There are opportunities to perform inside and out of school as part of the exam preparation.

Four days a week there is a music club at lunch time. Singers, instrumentalists and music technicians all come to the club.

Choir, rock band, guitar club and tin whistle group are open to all pupils. We are currently working with 2 groups for the CBBC Glee Club competition.
