Technology

TECHNOLOGY
Technology is a subject that is constantly changing. Computerised Drawing and Manufacture is becoming an important element to the subject but in Dundonald high school we still place great value on practical hand skills which are so important in the real world.
In junior school pupils will learn basic concepts in design and will be expected to produce a minimum of two/three practical pieces each year. Special needs pupils experience the same learning experiences as all other pupils and enjoy the same feeling of success that comes with doing the same work.
In senior school pupils go on to do GCSE where they will produce a variety of coursework pieces. These will include design drawings and a main practical piece which could range from model cars and boats to pneumatic safe boxes and other security devices. Last year 68% of our pupils achieved a grade ‘C’ or better.
Thanks to the help of our Technology and IT Technicians – Gary and Stuart Wilson this department continues to strive to set high standards in both life skills and academic excellence.
